Answers to common questions, and how to reach us.
Getting started
Open TDom and choose A Tesla or Another car. Then allow location when it asks. That's all GPS speed and the mileage log need, in any car.
Driving a Tesla? Open Vehicle, enter your VIN, and pair while parked inside the awake car. Approve the request on the car's screen with your key card.
Tap TDom at the top left to pick a layout, then tap Start trip or shift to record. Mount your phone before you drive.
Common questions
I don't drive a Tesla. Can I use TDom?
Yes. Choose Another car when TDom asks, or switch anytime in Vehicle. GPS speed, speed alerts, the mileage log, delivery shifts, the Dynamic Island, widgets and reports all work in any car, gas or electric. Only the live car readings, such as battery and tire pressure, need a Tesla.
TDom says speed is unavailable
TDom shows speed from your car when it's connected, otherwise from GPS. Check that Location is allowed in Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › TDom, with Precise Location on. GPS needs a clear view of the sky, so a garage or parking structure can delay the first reading. Wi-Fi-only iPads don't have GPS and need the car connection.
My Tesla won't pair
Sit inside the parked car with it awake and your phone's Bluetooth on. In TDom, open Vehicle, enter the VIN (Controls › Software in your car shows it) and tap Pair a read-only monitor key. Approve the request on the car's screen and tap your key card on the console when asked. If it times out, wake the car by pressing the brake and try again.
The speed is a little different from my car's
Small differences are normal. The car's speedometer and GPS measure speed in different ways, and car speedometers often read slightly high. When the car is connected, TDom prefers the car's own reading and only falls back to GPS if the car's reading is out of date. Your car's display is always the reference.
The Dynamic Island doesn't show my trip
It's off until you turn it on. Switch on Dynamic Island & Lock Screen when you start a trip, or in Settings › Widgets & Live Activity. Also check that Live Activities are allowed in iOS Settings › TDom. Automatically detected drives don't start one. On iPhones without a Dynamic Island, the trip shows on the Lock Screen.
How does automatic logging work?
Turn it on in Settings › Automatic logging and allow location access Always. When TDom notices a drive, it records it and asks you to approve it, so nothing lands in your log without your OK. You can turn it off at any time.
How do I export my mileage?
Open Trips, choose the month, year or everything, then tap the share button for a CSV file or a PDF report with route maps. Files are created on your phone and go only where you send them.
How do I delete a trip or all my data?
In Trips, swipe left on a trip and tap Delete, or open it and tap Delete trip. Deleting the app removes everything TDom saved on that device. To remove TDom's key from your car, delete it from the car's list of keys.
Does TDom drain my battery?
Recording uses GPS, and the driving display keeps the screen on, which both use power. For long drives, keep your phone on a charger. When no trip is recording and automatic logging is off, TDom doesn't use location in the background.
Can I use kilometers?
Yes. Open Settings › Units and choose Kilometers · km/h. Speed, distance and reports all follow it.
Requirements
- iPhone and iPad: iOS 18 or iPadOS 18 or later. GPS speed needs a device with GPS.
- Any car: GPS speed and the mileage log need only your phone.
- Tesla connection (optional): a 2021 to 2026 Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X or Cybertruck, with Bluetooth on. Available readings depend on the car's model, hardware and software.
- Dynamic Island: any iPhone that has one. Other iPhones show trips on the Lock Screen.
Privacy and safety
TDom sends nothing to us. Your trips, routes and vehicle key stay on your device. Read the privacy policy. Please set TDom up while parked and treat your car's own displays as the reference. The terms of use explain more.
